I started my career as an accountant though most of my career has been spent in IT. I started out working in "General Accounting" - basically a group that performed accounting functions not covered elsewhere in the accounting organization such as corporate consolidations. That gave me valuable insight into the oil and gas exploration and production business. I had an awful habit for working myself out of a job by seeing ways to make my job more efficient through the use of available computing resources to streamline my work. It was because of this, it was natural to migrate into IT as a software developer. I enjoy the IT world as technology changes every 2-3 years. I enjoyed not only the continual change but I saw my productivity being multiplied through the enablement of others to become more productive. This was the value in my work I treasured.
My experience in IT has included most areas of the IT lifecycle and services. I have worked as a programmer, supervised the service desk, and over 25 years working as an open systems and storage administrator and architect. My last responsibilities provided oversight over the “Service Now” development (a software and infrastructure service) providing ITIL and custom cloud based applications for the business.
I am now retired. I still enjoy technology but have other interests that include woodworking, pottery and genealogy. This website is a medium that I can share those things that I have learned and enjoy most. Thanks for visiting. I hope that the information shared on this website will provoke an idea that will benefit you and your technical situation or inspire you to form a hobby.
